QUICK CHALLENGES

Demo
Quick Challenges are a new way to compete with your friends’ Apple Watch Activity. Send a single workout challenge to a friend and rack up points to see who can complete the most challenges!

Background

The Apple Watch Fitness Sharing feature is one of the things that brings my family together. We all share activity with one another, commenting on each others work outs and sending each other week long challenges to compete against burning calories. Last Christmas my brother was finally gifted an Apple Watch, and he’s quickly become the most competitive one. This inspired me to think of new ways we could challenge each other. Rather than having to compete on a 7-day period, there could be a more light weight and in the moment way to challenge one another. Quick Challenges are a way to send specific workouts with a rep count to a friend. If the friend completes it, they get a point. You can optionally complete the workout yourself afterward to get a point. These are challenges that expire in a day, like “do 20 jumping jacks”, rather than a week long challenge of “burn the most calories”.

Process
I collected all of the screenshots related to fitness on the Apple Watch. This helped me understand the system that I had to work with. I then wrote down a bunch of concepts that quickly came to mind, and narrowed it down to Quick Challenges.

Using the screenshots as a base, I was able to infer how to integrate this feature into the existing system. After laying out the screens in Figma, I used the prototyping feature to connect the sceens and recorded it for the demo.
