The poster for Planet’s Month of Design speaker series

Background
The Month of Design was a speaker series led by the head of design at Planet Labs, Heika. It was an event held virtually and in-person at the Plant office in San Francisco that invited designers from various industries to come and speak about their unique experiences. I was responsible for designing the poster for the event that was displayed around the office and on Slack to educate employees on atending. I also helped manage the setup of the lectures, getting to meet all of the speakers. This was a stand out moment on my path to discovering design.
Process
I started to create the design on Canva, but got feedback from the head of design and realized that we needed to do something more. This was the perfect opportunity to get better at Figma and learn to design a poster. I would get constant feedback like this on Slack and adjust the design accordingly

I started by sourcing inspiration on how I wanted the poster to look. Going for a spring and pastel color pallete for May.

I landed on this as my inital version, eventually formating the text and giving space for the illustration to show before arriving at the final version.
